Keyboard shortcuts

This page lists every keyboard shortcut in Nifty, grouped by where it works.

On this page

Press ? on any page to see every key that works there. To close the list, press ? again or Esc.

The keys follow a pattern.

  • A single letter acts on the page you're on. For example, E edits, and N adds something new on this page.
  • ⇧ and a letter creates something, from anywhere.
  • G, then a letter goes somewhere.

Single-letter keys don't fire while you're typing in a field. On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl for ⌘ and Alt for ⌥.

Date fields

Press ⌥↓ to open the calendar. The arrow keys move by day, and Page Up and Page Down move by month, or by year with ⇧. ↵ chooses a date, and Esc closes the calendar. In a calendar with a field under it, type a date and press ↵ to choose it.

When a date such as a task's Deadline is selected, you can start typing straight away. Its calendar opens with what you've typed in the field under it. In an open calendar, typing on a day or a choice goes into that field too.

To remove a selected date, press ⌫. This does what No deadline or No start date does. A document's date and an event's date stay as they are.
